RTMC’s Corporate Social Investment

Reaching communities, empowering people and transforming lives

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) believes in transforming the lives of the people living in the communities in which it operates, turning scars into stars, challenges into celebrations and problems into promises of a bright future for the citizens of South Africa.

The Corporation plays an important role in the transformation of its stakeholders and communities and aims to facilitate sustainable Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programmes.

Our CSI focus complements the National Development Plan (NDP) and the Medium-Term Strategic Framework (MTSF) as it highlights the focus arears mentioned as priorities of the NDP and MTSF. The NDP by outlining the vision for 2030 seeks to write a new story for South Africa. Therefore, the key priorities outlined in the NDP that influences the focus and implementation of the CSI programmes are economy and employment, improving education training and innovation, promoting health, building safer communities and transforming society and building the country.

The focus of the RTMC Corporate Social Investment programmes is not only on funding of projects, rather we are committed to being directly involved in our programmes, approaching every project with a view to facilitate sustainable development and self-sufficiency in the communities.

Our commitment to sustainably impacting and bringing a positive transformation to the lives of South Africans, embracing our people and communities with education and training, job creation, public health,  community development and support, environmental conservation, sport, arts and culture.

While our commitment to enhancing the lives of all in South Africa, the greater need of vulnerable children, orphans, youth, rural, semi urban and previously disadvantaged communities and pensioners remains focal to our CSI programmes.

Corporate Social Investment in South Africa has aligned itself with global practices over the last two decades. Therefore, RTMC has strengthened its focus on the importance of supporting the CSI function within the Corporation.

If a brand genuinely wants to make a social contribution, it should start with who they are, not what they do. For only when a brand has defined itself and its core values can it identify causes or social responsibility initiatives that are in alignment with its authentic brand story.Simon Mainwaring
