“ROAD TRAFFIC AWARDS RESULTS”

The Awards Gala Evening, which was graced by the presence of nine (9) Traffic Police Veterans from all provinces, was a marvellous and an emotional ceremony.
The Traffic of the Award for 2009 went to Kwazulu-Natal Provincial Traffic’s Mr. Colin Govender. Other awards are as follows:
- Most promising officer: Tie win between E Marais (Western Cape Traffic) and M Matsepe (Limpopo Traffic);
- Going the Extra mile: R Oosthuizen (Kwazulu-Natal Traffic);
- Most innovative idea: Gauteng Traffstats (Gauteng Traffic);
- Most outstanding achievement: S Mohlala (Limpopo Traffic);
- Best traffic training centre: Kwazulu-Natal Training College (Kwazulu-Natal Traffic);
- Best/ Innovative road safety project: Kwazulu-Natal Road Safety;
- Best education training development practitioner: M Kanaiae (Kwazulu-Natal Traffic College; and
- Special award: Involvement in the promotion of road safety: Capricorn District Municipality.
The awards ceremony took place in Cape Town as part of the inaugural International Road Traffic Safety Management Conference which is underway since Monday, 28 August until today, 28 August.
“These awards are aimed at encouraging and motivating law enforcement officials and road safety officials to perform duties with enthusiasm and due care,” said a Special Advisor to the Minister of Transport Dr. Kwazi Mbanjwa when addressing more than a thousand guests.
