Purpose

To manage and control the collection, investigation and recording of road crash data on a national basis and manage and oversee the National Incident Management Programme.

Objectives

• Conduct and coordinate Special Investigations on major accidents in the  country
• Develop an Accident Investigation Unit model through international benchmarking; pilot and implement it
• Develop a standardised accredited Traffic Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Framework, and programmes and implement same in the country
• Develop a standardised Incident Management System Framework and Policy
• Develop regulations for the accreditation of accident investigators
• Host an annual International Accident Investigation Conference
• Implement a real time accident recording system in the country
• Implement a 24/7 National Traffic Call Centre
